Changed 5 gallons of water in the 50-gallon/29-gallon same sump system. I don't think I've changed the water since last year in this system because of laziness and the new kid! I have to be more regular about the water changes in that system. I'm going to change 5 gallons in the 20-gallon tank either today or tomorrow. The mushrooms in the 20-gallon tank look like they need some help. The green star polyps and other long polyps in the tank look fine.

The San Jose Mercury News had a good story today about coral collectors and how they may be able to help save the reef. The article can be found at: http://www0.mercurycenter.com/front/docs1/coral0522.htm. I haven't changed the water in my tank for months! But the combination of the plenum and caulerpa filtration appear to be doing a great job. With the increased growth of the sps corals in the 50-gallon tank, I'm concerned about maintaining calcium levels, but everything seems to be going fine for now. I'm pretty lucky that the tanks are pretty stable right now. With my 7-month old kid, work, and cycling and running interests, the tanks don't get as much time as they should. Maybe when my dad retires, he can help me out (yeah, right!).
